DUBROVNIK DUBROVNIK, Sept 22 (Hina) - A three-day long conference called Strategy of the development of the care for the elderly in Croatia opened on Wednesday in the southern Croatian town of Dubrovnik. Since 1995, ten percent from
the budget are earmarked for the social welfare, Croatian Labour and Social Welfare Minister Joso Skara told a press conference. In the past several years the capacity of pensioner's homes in Croatia increased by 1,100 beds. The event in Dubrovnik gathered about 100 participants and was organised by the Croatian Government's National Committee for marking 1999, international year of the elderly.
