PARIS/ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - Historians and government officials of ten countries of the south-east of Europe will hold talks in the Swedish town of Visby as of Thursday. The focus of the talks will be how to free history text books
of the stereotypes of hatred and prejudice, the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO) said on Wednesday. Participating in the talks are also all republics of the former Yugoslavia, the UNESCO press service said. The meeting is organised by UNESCO and co-financed by Sweden, Germany and the American State Department. stereotypes of hatred and prejudice, the United Nations Education,

The conference should end with the adoption of a declaration and
starting points for cooperation on this sensitive issue. Every
country will be represented by a historian, a government official
and a representative of a text book publisher.
The UNESCO National Commission in Zagreb told Hina Wednesday
Croatia would be represented by Neven Budak and Damir Agacic of the
history department of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb and
Vlasta Sabljak from the Education and Sports Ministry.
There is no information yet who will represent text book
publishers.
The technical concept was prepared by the Georg Eckert Institute
for international text book research.
This institution helped change historic text books by removing the
intolerant texts concerning the historic animosity between Germany
and Poland, and France and Germany.
