VARAZDIN BAROQUE EVENINGS VARAZDIN, Sept 20 (Hina) - A conference called "Baroque in Varazdin - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" began in the northern Croatian town of Varazdin on Monday on the eve of tonight's opening of the traditional
Varazdin Baroque Evenings manifestation. The conference, organised by the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences, was addressed by Varazdin Mayor Hrvoje Vojvoda, Croatian Ambassador to the UNESCO Vesna Girardi-Jurkic, and academician Andre Mohorovicic. Also in attendance was Elena Cattarina Leger, envoy of UNESCO's World Heritage Centre, who pointed out that Varazdin was a town which managed to preserve its baroque authenticity, despite its progress and modernisation. The manifestation will last two days, during which times some 20 exhibitors will display the northern Croatian town's architectural, artistic, and literary baroque heritage.
