and Foreign Minister Hans Dietrich Genscher said in Zagreb on

"Man's dignity is something which is beyond question and it is the

Genscher was speaking at the presentation of the Croatian edition
of his book "Errinerungen" (Memories) in Zagreb's Intercontinental
Hotel.
The book is a collection of chapters from a book Genscher wrote
several years ago and in which he remembers the most important
events in his political career. One of the chapters focuses on the
situation in the former Yugoslav federation in the 1990-1992
period, which ended with the recognition of Croatia and Slovenia as
independent states, in great part thanks to Genscher's efforts and
then German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
"I hope my book will soon be translated not only in English, but
other languages as well, and that it will contribute at least a
little to a different perspective on the events which took place in
this region up to 1992," Genscher said.
Present at tonight's presentation were also Croatian Deputy
Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader and German Ambassador to Croatia
Volker Haak.
Tonight's presentation marked the end of Genscher's day-long visit
to Zagreb, during which he held talks with Croatian President
Franjo Tudjman, Sanader, and Zagreb Mayor Marina Matulovic-
Dropulic.
