ZAGREB, Sept 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman reached a decision according to which, well-respected Croatian conductor Milan Horvat is to be awarded the order of Croatian Wicker for his particular contribution to the
promotion of the Croatian music, President's Office reported Monday. Horvat, born in the eastern Croatian town of Pakrac in 1919, majored piano at the Zagreb Music Academy, and earned a doctoral degree in law at the University in Zagreb. He has been conducting the Radio Zagreb Symphonic Orchestra since 1946, and the State Symphonic Orchestra since 1948. Horvat also conducted the Irish Radio Orchestra in Dublin, and the Austrian Radio Orchestra in Vienna. Horvat was a professor at the Graz Music Academy.(hina) it
