ZAGREB, Sept 15 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Thursday received the newly appointed ambassadors of Portugal and Switzerland. Portuguese Ambassador Ana Barata said her country will take over presidency of the European
Union in the first half of 2000, during which time, she added, Portugal will eagerly support Croatia in her path towards integration with Euro-Atlantic institutions. President Tudjman said he hoped all-round Croatian-Portuguese relations would develop, and promised to Barata Croatia's full support during her mandate. Swiss Ambassador Paul Widmer expressed hope Croatia and Switzerland will contribute to Europe's development via the development of mutual relations. President Tudjman said Croatia was willing to make a constructive contribution to Europe's progress, pointing out however Croatia could not consent to Balkan integration.(hina) ha jn
