COLOGNE ARCHDIOCESE SENDS AID TO CROATIA

ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - Representatives of Renovabis, Caritas and the Maltese Chivalry order from the Cologne Archdiocese on Tuesday held talks in Zagreb with representatives of the Croatian State Commission for relations with Religious Communities about assistance to the Catholic Church in Croatia. Commission member Stefanija Knesaurek Bortek thanked the representatives of the three humanitarian associations, particularly the Cologne Archdiocese Caritas and Archbishop, Cardinal Joakim Meisner, for the DM20 million assistance given to Croatia for the reconstruction of damaged churches and numerous displaced poor persons. The Cologne delegation suggested that the Commission, with consent from the Croatian Bishops' Conference, draft a plan of priority dioceses which could use assistance, especially in the Croatian Danube River region into which people are returning after the peaceful reintegration and reconstruction.
