MOSTAR, Sept 8 (Hina) - The head of the regional Office of the High Representative in Mostar, Richard Ellerkmann, on Wednesday called on the Croat authorities in Stolac and Capljina and the Muslim authorities in Bugojno to enable the
children of returnees to attend classes according to the curricula their parents choose. Speaking at a news conference, Ellerkmann said that although the school year had begun last Monday the mayors of Stolac, Capljina, and Bugojno had failed to observe instructions given by Deputy High Representative Ralph Johnson to provide rooms in the already existing school buildings for returnee children. Ellerkmann described this as a failure, adding the problem was being discussed on the highest political levels. He also said his office was still investigating the case involving a Catholic church in the suburb of Dreznica in the Bosniak-dominated Mostar
MOSTAR, Sept 8 (Hina) - The head of the regional Office of the
High Representative in Mostar, Richard Ellerkmann, on Wednesday
called on the Croat authorities in Stolac and Capljina and the
Muslim authorities in Bugojno to enable the children of returnees
to attend classes according to the curricula their parents choose.
Speaking at a news conference, Ellerkmann said that although the
school year had begun last Monday the mayors of Stolac, Capljina,
and Bugojno had failed to observe instructions given by Deputy High
Representative Ralph Johnson to provide rooms in the already
existing school buildings for returnee children.
Ellerkmann described this as a failure, adding the problem was
being discussed on the highest political levels.
He also said his office was still investigating the case involving a
Catholic church in the suburb of Dreznica in the Bosniak-dominated
Mostar municipality of Sjever. A part of the church backyard was
used for widening a local road, which recently caused resentment
with Croat officials in Mostar.
