BUGOJNO, Aug 26 (Hina) - "The International community and High
Representative for B-H (OHR) have had enough talk, the school year
is about to start and a solution must be found", said Claude Kiffer
of the OHR at a meeting in Bugojno on Thursday.
The meeting was organised to decide on premises for a school
offering lessons in Croatian to be established as the school is
currently operating in the parish presbytery.
County prefect for Central Bosnia County for education, culture and
sport Miro Jovic advised of the chronology of the school to date
during its exile when children of all three nationalities sat
together until the Bosnian-Croat conflict broke out in 1993 and
Moslem children withdrew.
Jovic added that municipal authorities are obliged to find premises
for Croat children because Croats too participated in the
construction of schools.
"The international community donated 1,760,000 German marks of
which 760K was to be for schools of minority communities. The Croats
in Bugojno however, did not receive not one mark", Jovic said.
The principle of the elementary school Stipe Saric said "if the
problem of premises is not resolved, we will bring the children in
front of the municipal offices until it is".
The meeting was not attended by Bosnian officials with the excuse
that they were not advised of the meeting on time and that they
considered the parish presbytery and inappropriate forum for such a
discussion.
