VUKOVAR DISTRICT VUKOVAR, Sept 7 (Hina) - Representatives of local Serbs, international organisations, and families of missing persons from Sotin on Tuesday met in Vukovar at an invitation of Vojislav Stanimirovic, the deputy chairman
of the Croatian government's trust establishment committee. According to a statement from the press centre of the Joint Council of eastern Croatian municipalities with a majority Serbian population, talks were held on the security situation in Sotin, a district of Vukovar, where Croatian returnees have been protesting for ten days. The returnees demand that Croatian authorities bring to justice all who are responsible for war crimes committed by the Serbian aggressor in Sotin in 1991. international organisations, and families of missing persons from
Sotin on Tuesday met in Vukovar at an invitation of Vojislav
Stanimirovic, the deputy chairman of the Croatian government's
trust establishment committee.
According to a statement from the press centre of the Joint Council
of eastern Croatian municipalities with a majority Serbian
population, talks were held on the security situation in Sotin, a
district of Vukovar, where Croatian returnees have been protesting
for ten days.
The returnees demand that Croatian authorities bring to justice all
who are responsible for war crimes committed by the Serbian
aggressor in Sotin in 1991. They appealed to Sotin's Serbs to help
them in shedding light on 37 Croats from the area who are filed as
missing.
The statement says that it has been agreed during the talks that the
tracing of missing persons should be carried out by police and the
judiciary, and not by individuals, with cooperation from all who
can help in gathering data as soon as possible.
Representatives of international organisations present at the
talks were from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in
Europe and the International Commission for Missing Persons.
