BOSNIAN SERBS UNWILLING TO ATTEND JOINT MEETINGS

SARAJEVO/BANJA LUKA, Sept 7 (Hina) - Due to the fear of new arrests under indictments issued by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the defence minister of the Bosnian Serb entity has forbidden Serb officers to attend meetings which are held outside of the Republika Srpska or Yugoslavia. According to the Bosnian Serb news agency SRNA, Bosnian Serb army officers will be able to travel outside the Republika Srpska and Yugoslavia only if the Stabilisation Force (SFOR) and the ICTY provide guarantees that they will not be arrested. SFOR spokesman Jacques Poitras on Tuesday told a press conference in Sarajevo that a meeting of the Joint Military Commission would be held at the SFOR base in Ilidza, a Sarajevo suburb.
