This result is owing to the contribution of big state and other companies which operate also in other Croatian counties, as well as of big retail chains.
Businesses in Zagreb are followed by those in Split County, with revenues amounting to 38.6 billion kuna, a 6.5 percent share in the total revenues.
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is third, with a 5.6 percent share in the total revenues, while Zagreb and Istria counties account for 5.2 percent of the revenues. Lika County earned the least revenues, amounting to 1.6 billion kuna, a 0.3 percent share.
Compared to 2009, enterprises in 15 counties saw a drop in revenues, ranging from 0.3 percent in the City of Zagreb to 15.5 percent in Bjelovar County.
Businesses in six counties recorded an increase in revenues, ranging from 0.1 percent in Dubrovnik County to 3.9 percent in Sibenik County.
Expenses dropped in 16 counties, from 0.3 percent in Virovitica County to 5.1 percent in Bjelovar County.
Businesses in five counties saw a growth in expenses - in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County it was 0.1 percent, in Sibenik County 2.8 percent, in Lika County 3.2 percent, in Sisak County 5.2 percent and in Istria County 5.3 percent.
The total revenues of businesses in 2010 were two percent down from 2009, and their expenses dropped by 1.5 percent.
The earnings increased 13.8 percent, however, losses increased 33.6 percent, which resulted in a negative consolidated financial result of 1.7 billion kuna.
In 2010, 55,541 businesses earned 28.2 billion kuna in profit, while 41,217 businesses incurred losses in the amount of 29.9 billion.
Businesses in seven counties earned a net profit ranging from seven million kuna in Vukovar County to 2.4 billion in the City of Zagreb.
Businesses in the other 14 counties incurred net losses ranging from eight million in Krapina County to 1.3 billion kuna in Split County.
If the final results are measured by net profits, businesses in Zagreb were the most successful, with net profits worth 2.5 billion kuna, followed by businesses in Istria County with a net profit of 783 million kuna.
Enterprises in Split County had the poorest results, with a net loss of 1.3 billion kuna.
