12 Croatian counties register trade surplus in H1 2011

ZAGREB, Aug 9 (Hina) - According to the preliminary figures, released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on Monday, Croatia's exports in the first half of 2011 rose by 2.7% to EUR 4.4 billion, while the imports went up by 0.9% to EUR 7.2 billion, and broken down by counties, 12 out of a total of 20 counties made a surplus in the exchange of goods and services with other nations in H1 2011.

The City of Zagreb had a lead position with its exports totalling HRK 1.4 billion, which was a 32.7% share in Croatia's total exports in H1 2011.

The imports in the City of Zagreb accounted to EUR 4.2 billion, or 57.5% in the country's imports. Thus, its deficit was EUR 2.8 billion.

Expressed in the euro, a surplus was registered in the trade in 12 counties: Krapina-Zagorje, Sisak-Moslavina, Karlovac, Varazdin, Koprivnica-Krizevci, Virovitica-Podravina, Pozega, Slavonski Brod, Zadar, Osijek-Baranja, Istria and Medjimurje.

Istria County registered the highest surplus of EUR 225.1 million. Its exports went up by 3.3% to EUR 517.9 million, and imports plunged by 24.4% to EUR 292.7 million in the first half of 2011.
