KOMERCIJALNA BANK WORKERS STOP TRUSTEE IN BANKRUPTCY TO ENTER

ZAGREB, Aug 18 (Hina) - Komercijalna Bank employees stopped the bank's bankruptcy trustee, Pero Hrkac, from entering the premises in Zagreb Wednesday. The workers have been refusing to leave the bank's premises for eleven days now, in protest because their work contracts were terminated on August 8 and revolted with the attitude of the Commercial Court and the trustee in bankruptcy. The Commercial Court and trustee should be working on a rescheduling programme for the bank and doing everything to implement the political decision on its liquidation, Zagreb commissioner for the Alliance of Croatian Independent Unions (SSSH), mario Ivekovic, said on Wednesday. The Commercial Court is allowing for even companies in bankruptcy to be plundered because, as Ivekovic said, "the former trustee in bankruptcy Zlatko Micin, before he left his duties, paid to his lawyer-associate US$13,000 taken from the bank's account". Because of such behaviour, employees of all Zagreb-based companies in bankruptcy could stage a protest in front of the Commercial Court building, Ivekovic said. The same could happen to the Justice Ministry unless it receives a union delegation to discuss the inefficiency of the justice system in the fight against white-collar crime. President of the SSSH, Davor Juric, said he had tried to schedule a meeting at the Justice Ministry with regards to the Komercijalna Bank problems, but it fell through as all those in charge are on vacation.
