RAHIC GORNJI/BRCKO, July 29 (Hina) - An association of citizens of
the north-eastern Bosnian town of Brcko, who were expelled by Serbs
during the war, appealed on world statesmen to encourage the Brcko
supervisor to begin immediately to implement the March 5 decision
made by the arbitration commission on this disputed town on the
right bank of the Sava river.
On behalf of 20,000 Croat and Moslem refugees from Brcko, this
association called on international representatives to help them
to return to their hometown after eight years in exile.
The association blamed the Bosnian Serb party for impeding the
speedy implementation of the arbiter's ruling and that's why there
has been no return, development and reconstruction of this town
where human rights of all three peoples are not still respected.
It added that exiled Brcko pre-war residents were living in hope of
coming back to their town, with the assistance of the international
community in establishing Brcko as the first Bosnian district which
might then set an example of an area where human rights and
democratic principles are fully respected.
