OSIJEK, July 24 (Hina) - Three Croatian green associations on

Today, 'Green Action', 'Green Forum' and 'Osijek Green' members
staged a protest rally in front of the administration building of
the food processing factory, 'Bilje' d.d., which has been

near the Baranja village of Karanac. #L#
Protesters wrote on the building's wall "Stop Experiments with
Genetically Modified Plants", and raised a banner "Stop
Genetically Altered Food". They also unrolled yellow ribbons along
a driveway toward the building.
"The basic purpose of these actions is to exert pressure in order
discontinue experiments, which are being conducted with the
approval of the Croatian Agriculture Ministry, despite a
moratorium of the Croatian National Sabor," said the Green Action
President, Toni Vidan.
We hope we shall make the Ministry draw up an adequate law, by this
autumn, which will ban the import of genetically modified seeds and
introduce obligatory clear entries for imports containing
genetically altered components, Vidan added.
