ZAGREB, July 10 (Hina) - The Main Committee of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) on Saturday held a session, at which the party adopted changes to the HSS Statute, and a document including political starting points for the party's
strategy and tactics at parliamentary elections later this year. The latter document states the HSS should start from assessing the state of affairs in every electoral unit. The Main Committee stressed another significant aspect of the electoral strategy is to have no coalition with the ruling party either before, during, or after the elections. The party decided not to rule out the possibility of cooperating with parties outside the Opposition Six group, considering that in some cases it could be crucial in making the "democratic alternative" win over the Croatian Democratic Union. ZAGREB, July 10 (Hina) - The Main Committee of the Croatian
Peasants' Party (HSS) on Saturday held a session, at which the party
adopted changes to the HSS Statute, and a document including
political starting points for the party's strategy and tactics at
parliamentary elections later this year.
The latter document states the HSS should start from assessing the
state of affairs in every electoral unit. The Main Committee
stressed another significant aspect of the electoral strategy is to
have no coalition with the ruling party either before, during, or
after the elections.
The party decided not to rule out the possibility of cooperating
with parties outside the Opposition Six group, considering that in
some cases it could be crucial in making the "democratic
alternative" win over the Croatian Democratic Union.
The HSS Main Committee adopted a document on the establishment of an
electoral headquarters, an operational electoral headquarters,
and electoral headquarters in electoral units. All details will be
known after a new electoral law and law on electoral units are
passed.
Members of the Main Committee assessed the recent farmers'
protests, which gathered more than 100,000, as very successful.
According to Ivan Kolar, president of the Croatian Farmers'
Association, which staged the protests, the agreement the
government and the association recently reached was being
implemented successfully. It was the maximum that could have been
achieved, he told the session.
