SARAJEVO, July 2 (Hina) - President of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Croat-
Moslem Federation, Ivo Andric Luzanski, on Friday described
amendments to the act on the federal television, adopted yesterday
by a close majority vote at the federal lower house, as
unacceptable.
Such amendments passed by the House of Representatives were opposed
by Croat members, as they changed the text considerably so that it
deviated from the act previously agreed upon by the Forum of
Federation and greeted by federal authorities.
During the Sarajevo session, Moslem MPs voted for the adoption of a
great number of amendments to the draft bill on the federal radio
and television, although the Office of the High Representative
insisted on the passage of the original text.
The act must be passed by the federal the House of Nations in the
identical form as the one adopted by the lower house, in order to
come into effect. But the text with these amendments is not likely
to be endorsed by the upper house.
Ivo Andric Luzanski told Friday's news conference, organised by the
Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH), that
such forced changes would not be endorsed by Croat members in the
House of Nations.
He added that they would ask the International High Representative
to Bosnia, Carlos Westendorp and U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia, Richard
Causlarich, to ensure the acceptance of the text which has been
agreed upon by the Forum of the Federation.
Andric Luzanski told reporters that the HDZ BiH would respect the
law if the High Representative impose it even without a decision of
the parliament.
Commenting on the announced first forum of Bosnian Croats for July 9
in Sarajevo, Luzanski said it would be an exceptionally important
meeting gathering representatives of all significant political
parties, institutions and the Catholic Church.
For Croats in Bosnia it will be a sign of encouragement, as they will
know they are not left alone, the Federal President added.
A Federal Deputy Minister for Refugees and Social Affairs, Davor
Cordas, said the Croat side would like to see a mass return of
refugees to their homes throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina, and was
ready to fulfil its commitments in this respect.
