ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - A symposium on how to prevent violence against women opened in the Croatian Labour and Social Welfare Ministry on Wednesday. The symposium was opened by the President of the Croatian Government's commission
for equality among sexes, Ljerka Mintas-Hodak. According to Mintas-Hodak Hodak, the aim of the symposium was to make the public aware of violence against women. "We believe that experiences presented at this symposium will help the Commission's work", Mintas-Hodak said. Julie Bindel from the centre for investigating violence, abuse, and relations between sexes at the University Leeds Metropolitan in Great Britain, said that violence against women was a problem, equally developed in every country and community.
