EXHIBITION OF MODERN UKRAINIAN ART STAGED IN ZAGREB

ZAGREB ZAGREB, June 19 (Hina) - The international exhibition entitled "Future is Now - Ukrainian Art in the Nineties," was staged in the Museum of Contemporary in Zagreb on Friday. The exhibition shows works, installations, photos, video records and performances of 22 artists, including world known Ilja Kabakov, Oleg Kulik and Boris Mihailov. Authors of the exhibition are Branka Stipanicic and Tihomir Milovac in cooperation with an eminent critic, Marta Kuzma, from Kiev. The show is focused on themes from the everyday life and specific situations in Ukraine. Works of Ilja Cickan are about the painful topic of the nuclear accident in Chernobyl. Photos made by Boris Mihailov present the poverty in this former Soviet republic whereas works by Sergey Bratkov show Communist myths in an ironic manner. Before the ceremonial opening of the exhibition, a fashion show of Cickan's clothes took place

On Saturday a symposium on the Ukrainian art in the nineties is to be held in Mimara Museum.
