CROATIAN BAR ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUAL ASSEMBLY

ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - The participation of members of the Croatian Bar Association (HOK) in the work of legislative commissions, their comments on draft bills in the field of law practice, the attendance to international symposiums and seminars on achievements in law practice and judiciary in Europe and the world and the organisation of similar events were basic activities of the HOK in the past period, said HOK President Marijan Hanzekovic at the association's annual assembly. According to him, it was important that the HOK suggested the instigation of proceedings to assess whether the Pension Insurance Law was in compliance with the Constitution. It was also important that the Association supported the draft bill on the Croatian arbitration which should help courts in respect to a great number of pending cases. Hanzekovic announced the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Bar Association for this October. At the annual assembly, two eminent lawyers, Vjenceslav Bojanski and Hamdija Unkic, received "Dr. Ivo Politeo" diplomas for their work and promotion of the role and reputation of lawyers. (hina) ms
