ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Red Cross (HCK) ended 1998 with a US$278,000 loss; this resulted in a US$139,000 cut in this year's financial plan, which now totals US$3.7 million. Participants in a HCK Assembly held in Zagreb on
Tuesday pointed to upheavals in HCK's work, particularly in blood donations, due to unpaid liabilities to the HCK. According to HCK Supervisory Board chairman Zorislav Bobus, the Croatian Health Insurance Bureau has not paid the HCK for six months of blood donations - US$83,000 a month, while the state budget owes the HCK US$55,500 for regular work in the last three months of 1998. In the course of last year, the HCK distributed some 9,000 tonnes of food, its tracing department solved 466 cases, and assisted in the exhumation of 1,600 war victims. Also gathered were 146,000 blood doses, and 150 elderly persons were visited and offered 400,000 services as part of an
