ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman on
Friday received Knut Vollebaek, Norwegian Foreign Minister and the
chairman of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in
Europe), Tudjman's office said in a statement.
Minister Vollebaek voiced satisfaction with the progress made in
Croatia, and stressed the importance of the stable Croatia for the
general stability in the region.
Vollebaek, in capacity of the OSCE chairman, expressed readiness of
this organisation to help Croatia to fulfil its assumed commitments
and thus to assist it in speeding up the process of the country's
inclusion into European institutions.
President Tudjman was satisfied with the fact that the progress
made by Croatia had been noticed adding that it was often forgotten
that Croatia had been exposed to the aggression, occupation of a
part of its territory and had to care for a half million of displaced
people and a great number of refugees from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The international community's bigger understanding and more
objective assessment of the situation could help Croatia to
accomplish its goals of further development of the democratic
society at the highest level and entering Euro-Atlantic
institutions, Tudjman added.
