ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - Croatian veterans and public companies
employees on Wednesday threatened they would stage protest rallies
unless the government withdrew from parliamentary procedure a bill
on the privatisation of Croatian Telecommunications (HT).
They demand the government to negotiate on the company's
privatisation with representatives of veterans and trade unions of
all public companies, as well as the passing of a uniform law on the
privatisation of all public companies.
Representatives of Croatian Homeland War volunteers and veterans
entitled to the allocation of shares without compensation and
representatives of public companies' trade unions today held talks
about the HT privatisation bill and assessed it as inadequate and
entirely unacceptable.
The bill limits the veterans', workers', and pensioners' rights by
giving them only five percent instead of the minimum 15 percent of
shares.
Instead of getting DM20,000 or more under privileged conditions,
they are given only DM250, the president of the Association of
Croatian Homeland War Volunteers, Tomislav Mercep, told
reporters.
