TWO MINISTERS ON PROGRAMME FOR FLATS FOR HOMELAND WAR VETERANS

ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - Croatian Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic and Homeland War Veterans Minister Juraj Njavro presented results of the programme of the housing of Homeland War victims, during Monday's news briefing by the Government. About 4,500 flats are in different phases from preparations, construction to usage, and 2500 of them will receive tenants this year. By 2001 more than 7,000 flats will be built for war invalids, Radic told reporters. We will manage to implement the programme in time, Radic added. Speaking about flats constructed by the Reconstruction and Development Ministry, he said the price of a square metre is 4,626 kuna (approximately 660 dollars) with included the Value Added Tax (VAT), and explained that this was achieved thanks to the economic construction. The minister said the Agency for Facilitating Real Estate Transactions was also taking part in the conduct of the programme, by buying houses which can be given to some disabled persons. To date, 151 houses adjusted for those who suffered the gravest injuries in the war have been constructed, and the construction of such 23 houses is under way. Minister Njavro described the co-ordination between the two ministries as very good. He added that keys to about 400 flats would be handed to Homeland War veterans this month in Croatia. (hina) ms
