PULA PULA, May 10 (Hina) - A two-day symposium on disabled persons started in the northern Adriatic town of Pula on Monday, under the high auspices of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. A civilised society cannot allow a different
treatment and discrimination against disabled persons. The society must enable full participation and independent existence to persons with disabilities, and stipulate their rights by one comprehensive law, Croatian Justice Minister Zvonimir Separovic said at the opening. The symposium will discuss the legislative protection of disabled persons. The Croatian Labour and Social Welfare Ministry earmarks about US$87 million per year for the care of elderly, weak and disabled persons, Labour and Social Welfare Minister's Assistant, Marijan Pokrajcic, said.
