MOSTAR CEMETERY MOSTAR, March 31 (Hina) - Deputy Interior Minister of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jozo Leutar, who died on Sunday from injuries sustained in an attempt on his life on March 16, was buried with the highest
honours in Mostar on Wednesday. Present at the funeral, along with Leutar's family and numerous Mostar residents, were the highest officials from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, led by Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's envoy Ivic Pasalic, Deputy High Representative in BH Jacques Paul Klein, U.N. Secretary-General's special representative for the former Yugoslavia, Elizabeth Rehn, an advisor to a BH Presidency member, Mirza Hajric, and representatives of the diplomatic corps and other international representatives. from injuries sustained in an attempt on his life on March 16, was
buried with the highest honours in Mostar on Wednesday.
Present at the funeral, along with Leutar's family and numerous
Mostar residents, were the highest officials from Croatia and
Bosnia-Herzegovina, led by Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's
envoy Ivic Pasalic, Deputy High Representative in BH Jacques Paul
Klein, U.N. Secretary-General's special representative for the
former Yugoslavia, Elizabeth Rehn, an advisor to a BH Presidency
member, Mirza Hajric, and representatives of the diplomatic corps
and other international representatives.
Pasalic said in his speech that Leutar's murder was more than an
assassination - it was aimed at provoking a response of the whole
Croat community. Recalling the many victims and the suffering of
the Croat people, Pasalic said one must not loose the awareness of
one's own identity and confidence, even after the mindless act.
"Jozo has won by being the good man he was", said the Croat member of
the BH Presidency and president of the Croatian Democratic Union of
BH (HDZ BiH), Ante Jelavic. The Croatian leadership will not betray
the Croat people and it will secure equality and sovereignty, said
Jelavic calling on Bosnian Croats not to loose faith at this
difficult moment.
After the speeches were delivered, the coffin with Leutar's body
was buried at Mostar's cemetery Masline.
