LOVAS RESIDENTS MARK 1ST ANNIVERSARY OF BURIAL OF 67 VICTIMS LOVAS, March 21 (Hina) - The residents of Lovas, a village in the Vukovar-Srijem County, on Sunday marked the first anniversary of the burial of 67 victims of Serbian
aggression on the village. Most of the victims were killed in their homes shortly before the Serbian forces entered the village, while 21 residents were killed in a mine field near the village, forced into by Serbian forces. The remains of 67 victims were exhumed from a mass grave and individual burial sites in mid 1997. After a long process of identification and talks with the U.N. Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia about their burial in Lovas, the victims were buried at the local cemetery in Lovas a year ago. Another four Lovas residents are still held missing.(hina) rml
