SARAJEVO, March 31 (Hina) - Some electronic media in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, particularly the media in the Bosnian Serb entity of
Republika Srpska, have been unprofessionally reporting on NATO
strikes on military targets in Yugoslavia, spokesman of the
Independent Media Commission (IMC) Dieter Loraine said in Sarajevo
on Wednesday.
The Bosnian-Serb media have exclusively quoted Yugoslav and
Serbian sources.
Serbian Radio-Television (RTS) has been often re-broadcast, and
the public has not been given an alternative to such information,
Loraine said.
IMC representatives have warned the media which repeated the
violation of rules of professional and fair reporting, after which
the situation changed to a certain extent, but not as it had been
expected.
The IMC spokesman said these failures by the media would have an
impact on a decision on issuing operation licenses, which can be
made only by the IMC.
The deadline for submitting requests for operation licences
expires on April 1.
