MOSTAR, Mar 28 (Hina) - The largest Bosnian Croat party, the
Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH), on
Sunday issued a statement on the occasion of the passing of the
deputy interior minister of Bosnia's Croat-Muslim Federation.
Deputy Minister Jozo Leutar, a Bosnian Croat, member of the HDZ BH
Presidency and representative in the Bosnian Assembly, passed away
early Sunday morning after complications suffered as a result of an
attempt on his life on March 16.
Leutar's death is not a loss to the HDZ BH and the Croat people
alone, the HDZ BH statement said. The entire peace process in Bosnia
has lost a genuine and prominent fighter for justice and equality, a
man who significantly contributed to the building of equally-based
joint institutions in the post-Dayton Bosnia.
With his morality, expertise, conscience, and commitment, Leutar
made a significant contribution to the development and outline of
the HDZ BH, the statement said, adding Leutar was also one of the
party's most prominent members, greatly responsible for all of the
party's successes, and a person of great authority and respect.
The HDZ BH believes the investigation into the attempt on his life
will be completed as soon as possible, and that the "perpetrators of
and masterminds behind this terrorist act will be punished."
In a telegram of condolences to the Leutar family, HDZ BH president
Ante Jelavic said Leutar's death should be a reprimand to all
fighting the increased terrorism against Croats in Bosnia, and an
occasion for the international community to realise that Bosnian
Croats wish to be free and safe in their homeland, without
endangering others.
