SARAJEVO, March 23 (Hina) - The condition of the gravely injured
Bosnian Deputy Federal Interior Minister Jozo Leutar has been
deteriorating, and doctors have taken all available measures, a
doctors team said on Tuesday in the Bosnian capital.
Dr. Osman Duric, the head of the team at Sarajevo clinic where
Leutar is being treated after the murder attempt in which he
sustained extremely serious injuries, told reporters that the
health state of Leutar, which deteriorated yesterday, was becoming
worse today.
All available measures for the medical treatment have been taken,
Duric said on Tuesday.
The head of the UN mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Elizabeth Rehn,
said today that the investigative team of the (Croat-Moslem)
Federal Interior Ministry included also best professionals of the
International Police Task Force (IPTF).
Our ten best experts are a part of the investigative team, while
another 12 people are taking part in the probe occasionally, Rehn
told a news conference in Sarajevo.
She said FBI and Stabilisation Force (SFOR) experts were also
continuing the search for the perpetrator of the assassination
attempt against Leutar.
She described the bomb attack against this Bosnian Croat official
as a loathsome and horrible crime.
We shall not spare any effort to discover perpetrators and bring
them to justice, Rehn added.
David Mcbride, who is temporarily the IPTF commissioner in Bosnia,
said that so far collected evidence in the probe could not be
disclosed in the interest of the inquiry. He expressed confidence
that the perpetrators would be found out.
He stressed that the fundamental responsibility for the conduct of
the investigation lay with the Federal Interior Ministry, but the
entire process was going on under the supervision and with
assistance of international experts.
If anybody tries to thwart the course of the investigation, they
will be immediately removed, the IPTF official promised.
According to Rehn, chances for the success of the investigation in
this bomb attack are greater in comparison to probes in previous
similar attacks since the IPTF is able to have the direct control
over the entire process.
