SARAJEVO, March 19 (Hina) - The presidency of the Croatian
Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) discussed the
position of Croats in that country during its session in Sarajevo on
Thursday.
The Bosnian HDZ presidency determined the standpoints and new steps
which would be taken in communication with the international
community as well as with Bosniak (Moslem) and Serb peoples in order
to find mechanisms for encouraging Bosnian Croats as regards the
joint project of the creation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The presidency concluded that it would be necessary to harmonise
the Dayton peace agreement in the context of the equality of all
three Bosnian peoples in connection with institutions of political
administration and the balance in the political power, read a
statement issued after late Thursday's session and added that, on
the contrary, there is fear that Bosnian Croats might lose
confidence in the joint project of the building of Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Bosnian HDZ leaders held that steps should be taken to enable Croats
and other two peoples in Bosnia to be fully constituent in the
entire territory of the country, while adequate political
arrangement and organisation of Bosnia should enable also the
sovereignty of these three constituent peoples, the statement
read.
The Bosnian HDZ leadership pledged to work on creating a political
image of Croats as an equal people in Bosnia that has specific
interest and rights and as a Croat community in Bosnia offering to
everybody shelter and the Western way of life regardless of the
national origins, religion and political orientation.
The Bosnian HDZ leadership will work on the establishment of
special relations with the Republic of Croatia within Bosnia's
Constitution, international law and generally-accepted standards
of international cooperation.
At the end of the statement, the HDZ presidency stressed it would
take more efforts in removing inconsistency and exclusiveness
within the party's ranks which may pose obstacles on the path toward
the set-up of a viable and de-centralised Bosnia-Herzegovina.
