ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday
most strongly condemned today's terrorist attack on Jozo Leutar,
Deputy Interior Minister of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
"The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Croatia most harshly
condemns the vile terrorist attack on Jozo Leutar", the Ministry
said in a statement released today.
The front part of Leutar's car, in which he was being driven,
exploded in Sarajevo this morning while the vehicle was in motion.
Leutar sustained heavy injuries, while his driver and another
passenger, who was sitting in the back seat, suffered light
injuries.
"After a series of murders and serious wounding of members of the
Croat people in Central Bosnia, particularly in Travnik, Bugojno
and Kakanj, of which the most recent ones were also directed against
the Croat members of federation police forces, the crime which
happened this morning is the first one directed against a high Croat
official in the federal bodies of authority", the statement said.
The Ministry expressed deep concern about the incident which slowed
down the implementation of the peace process in Bosnia-
Herzegovina. The Ministry finds particularly disturbing the fact
that most of the committed crimes have still not been solved, nor
have their perpetrators been discovered. Croatia, therefore,
demands a most energetic investigation. Only a speedy apprehension
of perpetrators and their adequate punishment will create
conditions for peaceful and dignified coexistence of all peoples in
the Federation.
Croatia calls on international representatives to help in
conducting an immediate and effective investigation, the statement
said.
The Ministry also called on representatives of both peoples in the
federal authorities to do all in their power to keep composure and
peace and create an atmosphere which would facilitate speedier
establishment of federal institutions in line with the existing
legal framework, and the Washington and Dayton agreements.
