ZAGREB, March 11 (Hina) - More than 300 people attended recently
completed six-year-long Croatian-German programme for the
advanced training of Croatian managers who work in the state
institutions and the management of portfolios.
The project was financed by the Koeln-based non-profit
organisation "Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft" for the international
skill improvement and development of human resources, and carried
out by the Croatian Privatisation Ministry, the Privatisation Fund
and the Foundation of the Croatian State Vow (ZHDZ).
The basic aim of the programme is to educate and train experts to be
able to face challenges of the world market in very complex
conditions of transition and cut-throat competition, Croatian
Privatisation Minister Milan Kovac said during Thursday's ceremony
of the presentation of diplomas to 23 participants in a seminar
called the management of shares, at Intercontinental Hotel in
Zagreb.
Commenting on a spate of attacks at the conducted privatisation of
Croatian firms, Kovac said they (authorities) had never denied or
kept it secret that some failures and mistakes had been done in the
privatisation process and that some negative side-effects had
occurred as well.
Amendments to the privatisation law are in the parliamentary
procedure, and they envisage inspection services and tighter
control of privatisation, the minister added promising that none of
the privatisation cases would remain questionable and unresolved
issue.
German Ambassador to Croatia Volker Haak recounted that his
country's logo in the wake of the Second World War had been that
economy is destiny of Germany. He added that the same could be
applied to Croatia.
The Ambassador said Germany can and would like to take part in
Croatia's economic fate, and stressed that the best form of de-
centralisation is private property and private initiative along
with private investment.
Speaking about the ZHDZ Foundation, its head, Ivic Pasalic, said it
had been the first political foundation in Croatia. It is a service
of political and public officials helping them in further
professional improvement. This organisation has held more than 100
round tables, seminars and lectures since its establishment in
1996. These events has drawn more than 3000 participants, Pasalic
said at the ceremony.
