Interior Ministry. After the end of the war, the Civil Defence directed its activities to prevention of and protection from natural disasters and other accidents, apart from being engaged in the clearing mines, an assistant to the Croatian Interior Minister, Miljenko Bukovac, said at the ceremony. Thanking Civil Defence members for their efforts in prevention and assistance to areas stricken by fires, floods and earthquakes last year, Bukovac advocated the further training of people who are included in the civil defence and supported better international cooperation as "disasters do not know borders", he explained.
