SARAJEVO, Mar 3 (Hina) - The United States (US) Ambassador to
Bosnia-Herzegovina (BH) on Wednesday told reporters in Sarajevo
there would be no third entity in BH and that all problems in the
country must be resolved according to the formula set in the Dayton
peace agreement.
The U.S. is aware of the problems in BH, particularly of those in the
field of human rights, Ambassador Richard Kauzlarich said, but
added the US believed the establishment of a third entity was not a
solution.
Kauzlarich said arguments that a third entity would better protect
some Bosnian citizens' interests were incorrect. The extant
constitutions of both BH and the Federation of BH, Bosnia's Croat-
Muslim entity, ensure sufficient mechanisms for the protection of
rights of all living in BH, he pointed out.
The basic problem is how to ensure that state bodies, such as the
judiciary and the police, perform their tasks, the Ambassador said,
adding the U.S. was willing to assist in the matter.
Kauzlarich again criticised Bosnian authorities for insufficient
engagement in the economic revival and in privatisation.
