CROATIA INTERESTED IN ROMANIAN EXPERIENCES WITH MIG AIRCRAFTS

ZAGREB, Feb 25 (Hina) - Croatia is interested in cooperation with Romania in several fields. Especially useful will be shared experiences in upgrading MIG-21 aircraft, Croatian Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac said in Zagreb on Thursday after a meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Victor Babiuc. "Upgrading the MIGs is a process in which a certain technology must be used and in which we are considering cooperating with Romania," Miljavac told reporters after the meeting. The modernisation of Croatian MIG-21 aircraft has in principle been agreed on during Miljavac's visit to Israel some ten days ago. "Most projects (of upgrading Croatian MIGs) would be done at our Aircraft Technology Institute, but the initial modernisation would begin in Israel, some upgrading would be done in Romania and then in Croatia," Miljavac said. Babiuc told reporters the meeting had also focused on the possibility of the signing of an agreement on the training of officers, an agreement on the exchange of intelligence and their protection, on the organisation of joint military training and an exchange of monitors to military training.
