The first edition of this book in the Croatian language has recently been prepared by Albert Goldstein in the Zagreb-based Antibarbarus publishing house. A French historian Jacques Revel, who has continued Braudel's research, Professor Ivo Petrinovic, Ivo Babic who is the Vice- Chancellor of Split University, Professors Slobodan Prosperov Novak and Nikola Viskovic addressed the gathered at Monday's event in Split. They pointed to the importance of Braudel's works for the Mediterranean identity of Croatia. The French scholar was delighted at the archives in Dubrovnik and mentioned the city of Split in his works on the Mediterranean. Therefore, to publish "Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the time of Philip II ("Sredozemlje i sredozemni svijet u doba Filipa II)" in Croatia is of the exceptional importance. The book was promoted in Zagreb on 20 February. (hina) jn ms
