ZAGREB, Feb 5 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor's House of Representatives on Friday endorsed a law on determining the representation of union associations in the Economic and Social Council (GSV), by which representatives of the
Croatian Government, employers and unions coordinate their interest. According to the endorsed law, employees' interests will be represented at the GSV by union associations of at least 15,000 members who pay fees. The conditions are that the union association gathers at least five unions on national level, is active in at least 11 counties, and has at least three collective agreements signed on national level. If unions fail to reach an agreement on who is to represent Croatian employees, social elections are to be held, and each employee would vote on who is to represent them at the GSV. Representatives on Friday endorsed a law on determining the
representation of union associations in the Economic and Social
Council (GSV), by which representatives of the Croatian
Government, employers and unions coordinate their interest.
According to the endorsed law, employees' interests will be
represented at the GSV by union associations of at least 15,000
members who pay fees. The conditions are that the union association
gathers at least five unions on national level, is active in at
least 11 counties, and has at least three collective agreements
signed on national level.
If unions fail to reach an agreement on who is to represent Croatian
employees, social elections are to be held, and each employee would
vote on who is to represent them at the GSV.
The Lower House also endorsed a law on the well-being of animals.
Among other things, the law also regulates that animals protected
by the Law on Protection of Nature, wild animals, and animal species
dangerous for humans cannot be held as pets. The list, according to
some, could also include pit-bulls.
The House of Representatives ratified an agreement on financial
assistance between Croatia and Belgium.
The Belgian Government will loan US$846,000 for the construction of
gas supply infrastructure in the Croatian Danube river region, to
be paid back in 20 years with annual interest of two per cent.
The agenda of the session, which is to be continued within some 10
days, has been supplemented with several items, including
amendments to the Lower House's rule book.
