RADIC ARRIVES IN CHICAGO FOR VISIT TO UNITED STATES

CHICAGO, Jan 31 (Hina) - Croatian Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic arrived in Chicago on Saturday for a several- day visit to the United States. Chicago is Radic's first sojourn of his tour to the U.S., where he will hold talks with Archbishop of Chicago, Francis George, a newly-elected deputy to the U.S. Congress, Janice Schakowski and a supreme court judge of the State of Illinois, Michael Bilandic. Radic will meet Illinois Governor George Ryan, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and representatives of about 200,000 Chicago citizens of Croatian descent. During these meetings Radic and his interlocutors will discuss plans for the "Croatia in Chicago" event, scheduled for the occasion of opening Croatia's consulate general this April. During the event Croatia will promote its economy, culture and other important segments of life to Chicago citizens. Croatian Reconstruction and Development Minister is to visit Washington where he will attend the traditional prayer breakfast, at an invitation of Senator Daniel Akak. During his stay in Washington, Radic will hold talks with Congressman Frank Wolf and a group of businessmen interested in economic cooperation with Croatia. (hina) ms
