The HDPZ members spoke about their impressions after their visit to
imprisoned Croats in The Hague last week.
Members of the delegation said The Hague prison looked like a
"modern torture chamber", in which everything was extremely
bureaucratic. They added however, that the Croatian prisoners had
no objections on the behaviour of the prison personnel and guards.
Even though living in inhuman conditions, particularly regarding
exercise, ventilation and food, Croatian prisoners are in good
physical condition and their morale is high, the delegation
stressed.
According to the delegation's assessment, statute of The Hague
Tribunal is not in accordance with international conventions on
human rights protection.
The HDPZ intends to forward a letter to the United Nations including
their remarks on the Tribunal statute.
