ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - The Transnational Radical Party on Tuesday
called on Croatian citizens to join in the world public's request to
put on trial Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic before The Hague
tribunal.
The party holds President Milosevic responsible for war crimes
committed in the region of the former Yugoslavia.
The main problem of the International Tribunal for the Former
Yugoslavia is that it has not dealt with the main perpetrators of
crimes in the former Yugoslavia, the party's Secretary-General and
a representative at the European Parliament, Oliver Dupuis, said in
Zagreb.
The petition called Stop Milosevic with your signature, has so far
been signed by 130,000 MPs, respected politicians, cultural
workers, university professors, and citizens across the world.
The party also called on the Croatian Government to forward the
statute of the permanent international tribunal to the Parliament
for ratification, as soon as possible.
The tribunal's constitutive conference was held in Rome in June,
however it has not yet begun to operate.
Dupuis called on the Croatian Prime Minister to forward a formal
request for Croatia's entrance in the European Union. He believed
it was about time, because the joining process can last up to ten
years.
