THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL INVESTIGATORS VISIT CROATIAN HELSINKI COMMITTEE

ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - A group of investigators of the Hague Tribunal visited the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (HHO) on January 11-14. The group arrived to Croatia with an aim to get aquainted with the HHO's work and mechanisms in the establishment of the most serious violations of human rights, the HHO reported on Thursday. According to the HHO, the International Criminal Tribunal investigators reviewed documents and reports which could be of significance to the Tribunal. Members of the investigating group held talks with the HHO Executive Committee members and the HHO Office activists. Visits of other Tribunal investigating groups, as well as further cooperation of the Tribunal and the HHO were agreed on during the talks. The HHO believed that its actions were in accordance with international documents which were signed by Croatia, and with the Croatian Constitution and the Constitutional Law on cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. The HHO strongly declined and condemned Croatia's involvement in attempts of ceasing cooperation with the Tribunal. "We believe that the ruling and opposition parties, as well as other organisations within Croatia should demonstrate stronger efforts in full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, which would greatly contribute to Croatia's joining international integration processes", the HHO statement read.
