SPLIT SPLIT, Dec 28 (Hina) - A group of former members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) founded a Croatian Social Democratic Party in Split on Thursday. About 50 members of the new party elected Boris Kovacic president and Leonard
Cukrov vice-president, and adopted a new programme and statute at a founding convention. Kovacic said the new party was established because its founders were not satisfied with the situation in the society and SDP's policy. The new party will not only talk about social democracy, it will implement it is as well, and its main goal will be to represent the interests of ordinary people, he said. Asked to comment on the establishment of the new party, the president of SDP's branch in Split, Marin Jurjevic, said its founders had obviously not realised their ambitions in the SDP and had therefore established their own party.(hina) rml
