ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - The 8th electoral convention of the Social Democratic Party, the leading in Croatia's ruling coalition, is to be held on Saturday, December 2. The arrival of 1,173 party delegates, who are to elect the SDP
president and leadership, is expected. The SDP invited partner-parties from about 15 European countries to attend the convention. Also present at the convention will be the League of Social Democrats from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, headed by Nenad Canak. The invitation to attend was aslo sent to representatives of all Croatian parliamentary parties. Croatian President Stipe Mesic is expected to appear at the conference. Current president of the party (and Croatia's Prime Minister) Ivica Racan is the only candidate for the president of the SDP, while a larger number of candidates will run for other positions in the party.
