WASHINGTON, Dec 15 (Hina) - Croatia this week again presented its
tourism capacities to American tour-operators at their annual
conference in Phoenix, hoping it would be host to a significantly
greater number of tourists from the United States in the next two
years, Croatian Tourism Minister Pave Zupan Ruskovic said at the
end of her visit to the USA on Friday during a traditional meal
prepared for several hundred leading people of America's tourism
industry.
Ruskovic informed them about this year's results in tourism and
plans of Croatia's tourism officials. They were also shown a 10-
minute film on Croatia's natural beauties and cultural sites.
Ruskovic told reporters in Washington about 50,000 Americans
visited Croatia this year.
"I believe we shall procure the wanted 3.5 billion dollars this year
from the total seven million tourists, which would amount to 15 per
cent of the Gross Domestic Product," she asserted.
The Minister expressed conviction in two to three years Croatia
would be among leading European vacation resorts.
The success of tourism will be stimulated by privatisation, the
introduction of foreign capital, and government stimulation of
private investments into smaller and exclusive accommodation
facilities.
