"If the world is globalising it is normal crime will globalise too, and it is up to us at the Palermo conference to do everything to stop that evil," he told Croatian reporters upon arriving in Palermo, where he is to attend a United Nations conference on combating organised crime and sign a UN convention against trans-national organised crime. Croatia's role towards neighbouring Bosnia and Serbia, transit territories for smuggled goods and illegal immigrants, is to take active participation in halting trafficking in humans and drugs, said Mesic.
