ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Saturday received special advisor of the United States President and Secretary of State for democracy in the balkans James O'Brien, the President's Office said in a statement.
The two officials discussed the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. O'Brien praised Mesic's standpoints on Bosnia-Herzegovina, adding they were clear and brave. Mesic informed O'Brien of relations between Zagreb and Belgrade towards Bosnia-Herzegovina. Speaking about the events in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, President Mesic stressed the new authorities in Belgrade should not give support to Republika Srpska. O'Brien expressed a belief that in the near future there would be significant improvements in Belgrade's official standpoint, particularly in relations with the Hague Tribunal.
