ZAGREB, Dec 4 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Foreign Minister Vesna Cvjetkovic Kurelec on Monday received Richard Schifter, the United States' Secretary of State's special envoy for the Southeastern European Cooperation Initiative (SECI),
who was staying in Zagreb to attend the SECI programme committee's meeting. During their talks Cvjetkovic Kurelec and Schifter supported the stability in the region as a precondition for attracting the foreign capital, read a statement released by the Foreign Ministry. The two interlocutors agreed on the importance of the prevention of illegal migrations and organised cross-border smuggling. In this context the US official said the SECI could provide substantial support and he also backed the Croatian Government's activities and Zagreb's bids to come closer to Euro-Atlantic integration processes.(hina) ms
