RECONSTRUCTION MINISTER -- 6,753 HOMES RECONSTRUCTED THIS YEAR

ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - A total of 741 million kuna has been spent this year for the reconstruction of houses and flats damaged during the aggression on Croatia, Croatian Reconstruction Minister Radimir Cacic told reporters Tuesday. ?his year's programme of reconstruction gathers a total of 9,759 flats or houses. For less damaged homes, which the owners are repairing of their own devices, 4,093 packets of financial assistance have been given out, totalling about 63 million kuna. Owners of homes who reconstructed their house or flat with their own funds (of all degrees of damage) have been paid 28 million kuna so far. Underway are proceedings for estimating their own funds invested for additional 300 family houses. The reconstruction programme this year envelops 4,508 family houses, including equipping them with the most needed supplies, for which 649 million kuna have been spent. Cacic said the additional 520 homes will be reconstructed through loans. This year, the works on six blocks of flats with 66 flats have been completed, for which more than four million kuna has been spent, while by the end of the year a project documentation will be drafted for the reconstruction of blocks of flats with 200 flats. In 2000 40 schools were also reconstructed, for which 80 million kuna have been spent, and four million kuna for completing works on four churches. (hina) lml jn
